Nitzkin and Associates collects $190,000 on "old worthless judgment."
Mr. and Mrs. Janowski obtained a judgment against their doctor in 2004, through other counsel. This other counsel, believing that the uninsured doctor was "uncollectible" turned the file over to an attorney friend of his, instead of a collection attorney. Attorney 2 made some unsuccessful attempts to collect the jugment. In April of 2006, Mrs. Janowski turned the jugment over to Nitzkin and Associates. In May of 2006, Nitzkin and Associates collected $130,000 for the Janowskis. The defendant doctor has pledged his house and some valuable stock as collateral in support of his promise to pay the balance in the next six months.
Moral of the story - Old judgments may be uncollectible in the hands of most other attorneys. They may be worth a lot of money to you when the judgment is placed in our hands.
